OVERVIEW

The CHED Scholarship Program for Future Statisticians (ESTATISTIKOLAR) is a government funded program which aims to address the dearth of statisticians in the Philippines and to attract interested graduating student applicants pursuing Statistics programs and make effective the utilization of the scholarship funds consistent with the mandates of CHED under Section 8 (i) of RA 7722, especially those who belong to the following special groups:

  1. Underprivileged and Homeless Citizens under Republic Act (RA) No. 7279;
  2. Persons with Disability (PWDs) under RA No. 7277 as amended;
  3. Solo Parents and/or their Dependents under RA 8972;
  4. Senior Citizens under RA 9994); and 
  5. Indigenous Peoples under RA 8371

This scholarship shall cater to all qualified Filipino incoming fourth-year students pursuing Bachelor of Science in Statistics or Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics in recognized or authorized Private HEIs (PHEIs) or State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)/Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs).

A qualified student may be awarded a full or partial scholarship under the State Scholarship and Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA). The financial assistance may cover tuition and other fees, as well as a monthly stipend for living expenses.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Filipino citizen
  2. Graduating college students with a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 80% or its equivalent;
  3. Combined annual gross income of parent/s, guardian which does not exceed Four Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP400,000.00), or in cases where the income exceeds PhP400,000.00 an applicant must present a written certification or medical findings of illness of a family member, or school certifications of two or more dependents enrolled in college.

DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Citizenship: Certified true copy of Birth Certificate
  2. Academic Requirements:
    • Duly certified true copy of grades for the latest term/semester attended;
  3. Income Requirements (whichever is applicable)
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of parents or guardian;
    • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR);
    • Certificate of Indigence either from their Barangay or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD);
    • Case Study report from DSWD; and
    • Latest copy of contract or proof of income, for the children of Overseas Filipino Workers and seafarers
  4. Other Requirement
    • Identification Card (ID) – Special Group (Underprivileged or Homeless, PWD, Solo Parent, Senior Citizen, Indigenous People)

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

This scholarship program shall cover tuition and other school fees (TOSF), stipend which shall be released directly to the scholars or through HEIs, and book connectivity allowance per semester of a given academic year.
