President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently signed Republic Act (RA) No. 11522 declaring the 18th day of May as “National Higher Education Day” to commemorate the founding anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The CHED shall lead in the celebration of the “First National Higher Education Day” and the CHED 27th Founding Anniversary from 17-21 May 2021 with a theme,

“PADYAK!
Moving Forward, Claiming Victory for Philippine Higher Education
Pamantasan: Pandayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”

In view of this, the Commission is enjoining all public and private higher education institutions and other major stakeholders to participate in the abovementioned celebration through conducting your respective activities attuned with the above theme “Moving Forward by Claiming Victory for Philippine Higher Education”.

Moreover, provided in RA 11522, all higher education institutions shall also provide full support and assistance to the preparation of the annual program of activities and events to be conducted by CHED in observance of the higher education day. Concerned higher education institutions are requested to submit and coordinate with respective CHED Regional Offices for the details of their activities for the higher education week and to ensure that said activities are being carried out and executed according to the national theme.

Let us all look forward to a successful and meaningful National Higher Education Week celebration.
